POLICE INDEBTEDNESS FORCES IGP TO DEDUCT 2 CEDIS FROM POLICE OFFICERS EVERY MONTH
The IGP of police says lack of funds from government is forcing the service to deduct GHC 2 cedis every month from police officers salaries to settle their debts.

According to Mr. Kudalor, the service has been forced to take this action due to government reneging on its duty of providing the service with resources.

John Kudalor was at the Public Accounts committee to answer some infractions in the 2011 Auditor General’s report.

IGP also raised safety concerns among road users, with the revelation that the country has only two police towing vehicles.

These vehicles according to the Inspector General of Police have been dispatched to the Accra-Kumasi highway to help tow broken down vehicles on that stretch.

This has led to the police relying on some private towing companies including zoom lion to help remove the vehicles which cause a large chunk of the fatalities recorded on the roads.

But deputy Interior Minister, James Agalga says government is working around the clock to get the police administration with towing cars.
