BANDA CHIEF AND RESIDENTS DISPLAY WOMEN TO CURB TEENAGE PREGNANCIES.


Chief and residents of Banda in Wenchi of the Brong Ahafo region have been complaining of excess teenage pregnancies since they abandoned their rich Kurubi festival “Apataforo festival” hence has climaxed it again.
The festival which brings together all Banda borns across the country showcases women who are not yet married to be chosen by their men who are also not yet married.
Some elderly women who got married through the festival then tells Adom News Shine Acquah, the culture help to curb teenage pregnancy and also help the women to be noticed by able men for marriage.
 
Some men say the festival has helped them a lot to choose their spouse and are yet to meet their family while others are happily married to their spouse.
Chairman of the festival planning committee Alhaji Abdullah Umaru tells Adom News they have to bring back the festival to welcome their colleagues’ home and urge the ones who are not married to meet their spouse for marriage.
