ONE FEAR
DEAD, 3 INJURED IN FATAL FOREX BUREAU ROBBERY
One
person is said fear dead and 3 others injured in an armed attack at a Forex
Bureau at Kaneshie, Accra.
Four suspected robbers entered the Bext Nascent Forex Bureau
at Pampromu in Kaneshie at about 2pm
Wednesday and demanded the staff release all foreign currencies.
While they made their escape the
workers raise an alarm at the densely populated business district.
The robbers fired sporadic shots to deter any
heroic attempts to capture them.
Four armed robbers including a woman bolted
with money and were running while some traders and hawkers run after them
screaming 'thieves', 'thieves'.
They turned and shot at the people
who run after them and used the Royal House Chapel as an escape route
A police officer stationed at the
State Insurance Company located next to the church was brave enough to shoot
one of the suspects while he tried to scale a 7-foot wall another was also
over-powered and arrested.
The others including the woman managed to
escape.
The suspects said to be in their
early 20's have been sent to the Police Hospital for treatment
. One sustained a gunshot wound in
his waist One of the robbers shot a security man in his mouth.
He was rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching
Hospital for treatment
