LEUKEMIA CASES ON THE RISE IN GHANA
Image result for picture of leukemia diseaseLeukemia  cases is on the rise in Ghana as 4 out of 10 people who report to the cancer center are diagnosed with Leukemia that is a cancer of the blood .

Speaking with Adom News Dr. Vivian Paintsil a Paediatric Oncology (Cancer Specialist) of the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital says over the last five years, leukemia is the second cancer after Beurkitt-Lymphoma which affects at least five persons out of ten.

There are two types of Leukemia and they are ALL Acute Lymphatic (ALL) Leukemia which is easy to treat and Acute Myelo Leukemia (AML ) which is hard to treat with low chances of survival.

Some of the symptoms of leukemia are Pneumonia, over bleeding, bleeding through the nose, blood in urine and lumps are some of the symptoms of Leukemia.

Those that are prone to have Leukemia are those who live close by high tension poles who are exposed to high levels of radiation and those that use pesticides (farmers) and some are inherited.
