The opposition New Patriotic Party
has criticized the continuous holding of three ex-South African police officers
by the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) despite bail granted by the
court.
The three were in the country to
train some members of the NPP flagbearer’s security detail.
Last Thursday a Circuit Court in
Accra granted bail in the sum of ¢20,000 each with one surety.
They are charged with conspiracy to
commit crime, unlawful training and making false declaration.
Their lawyers protested a decision
by the BNI to return the 3 South Africans to custody though the magistrate had
ordered they be held at the registry until bail proceedings were completed
But at the NPP headquarters Monday
morning, the angry party members demanded their immediate release.
The NPP is also worried about the
arrest and detention of Captain Koda, head of security for the party's
flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo.
The party is in no mood to accept
what it believes is the flagrant violation of the fundamental human rights of
its security capo as well as the South Africans who it invited.
