TENSION IS
GRADUALLY MOUNTING UP AT CPC OVER PROPOSE APPOINTMENT OF NEW MD
Tension is
gradually mounting up at the Cocoa Processing Company over the decision by the
government to replace the Acting Managing director Dr. Frank Asante, who took over
from Mr. Armaah Tetteh, the former Managing Director.
Sources indicate that workers have vowed to resist any attempt by
the government to replace the acting MD with an outsider who knows nothing
about the cocoa processing company and its operations.
Dr. Frank
Asante, has worked with CPC for past 25 years as a Research and Development Manager
, Production manager of the Confectionery Factory, Quality Assurance Manager until his
appointment as the deputy managing director of operations and now the Acting
MD.
Since his
assumption as the Acting Managing Director, workers claimed they have started
reaping gains from some of the measures he has put in place and changing him
would spell a doom for the company most especially if the one coming is an
outsider.
Workers who
spoke on the condition of anonymity said CPC was run down by an outsider and
they will not sit down to allow such bad omen to repeat itself to the detriment
of those who have sacrificed their lives to keep the company on it toes.
According to
them, last year, CPC entered into partnership with Touton Cocoa and processed
their beans for them for a fee of $5 million dollars with the hope that the
partnership will continue till they get their own beans to process from Ghana COCOBOD
They
explained that considering the structures put in place by Dr. Frank Asante, if
the company get its own beans, the story will change from bad to good. They
however warned government to resist any attempt to replace the current MD
because they will resist with their lives.
