GIRL DETAINED IN HOSPITAL
OVER GHC2, 500 UNPAID BILL
Eastern Regional Government Hospital has detained 12-year-girl
Hilary Deku for three weeks over her dad’s inability to settle her GHC2, 500
hospital bill.
Hilary Deku, a class six
pupil of the Obuotunpan Local Authority Basic School still remains in the
custody of the hospital after she was diagnosed and treated for a meningitis
condition.
She could neither speak
nor make gestures. She has grown lean and looks pale. She could only pass urine
through a catheter
Hilary’s father, Kwame
Deku said the hospital says they will not let her daughter leave
until he pays the bill.
Meanwhile, Head of the
Children’s Department of the hospital, who refused to say her name said Hilary Deku is not under detention but rather still under medical
treatment.
