The aim of Samia Yaba Nkrumah to lead the Convention People's Party for the 2016 elections have been dashed after Over 2,500 delegates who converged to the International Trade Fair Centre Saturday to cast their votes at the congress chose Ivor Greenstreet as their flagbearer of the party with over 64% of the votes cast .
Greenstreet garnered 1,288 votes representing 64% of the valid votes cast as against Samia's 579 votes. Other candidates, Bright Akwetey and Joseph Agyepong, secured 42 and 83 votes respectively. The total votes cast was 2006 with 14 rejected ballots.
Samia was tipped as favourite by some political analyst but faced a tough competition from the former General Secretary, Ivor Greenstreet.
Greenstreet in his victory speech said he will lead the party with integrity.
