FARMER
SUPPORTS FREE SHS WITH FIVE BAGS OF COCOA ANNUALLY
A cocoa farmer
at Goka in the Jaman North District of the Brong-Ahafo Region, has pledged to
support the Free Senior High School policy with five bags of cocoa every year.
The 70 years old farmer, Nana Twen
Adu-Asare who has been farming for the past forty 40 years and has over 40
acres of cocoa, says he did not get education because of poverty so he want to
help children of poor parents to get free education.
He said every year he will give moneys from the sale of five cocoa
bags to the government as his contribution to Free SHS.
Nana Adu-Asare says the support will
continue till he dies.
The farmer asked the government
especially Agriculture Ministry to take a good look at the cocoa sector and
support farmers with loans so they do not divert to growing cashew.
He also urged government to stop
issuing mining licenses because mining is causing more destruction than the
money we make from it.
