A 50-year-old palm wine tipper called Safo has butchered a 20-year-old lady at Wassa Ayiam in the Western Region.

The deceased who name was only given as Fati was a co-tenant of the man who lives with his wife and children.

According to Lord Fm’s reporter, Kenneth Nuamah, what triggered the fight for the old man to commit such heinous crime is still unknown.

However, he indicated that the 50 year-old palm win tapper had early on threatened to kill his wife whenever they quarrel.

"Safo's wife moved from the house after the threat but Fati became the victim when he returned from town drunk" he added.

On Sunday when Fati was preparing to watch her clothes, Safo entered her room and inflicted cutlass wounds on her back and head leading to her sudden demise.

The man after realising his crime bolted and has since not returned to the house. Residents chased him but he managed to escape for fear of being lynched.

The case was reported to the police and they have since mounted a manhunt for the 50-year-old man.

Also, an elder in the town, Annin Yeboah Sam in an interview with Adom News said the chief of Wassa Ayiam has also begun an independent investigation into the matter.

He disclosed that an old woman who was in the house when the incident occurred has been summoned to the palace.

Annin Yeboah Sam said they will ensure the man is apprehended and handed over the police for justice to prevail.
