Ghanaians may experience ‘dumsor’ again' - Jinapor

John Jinapor1John Jinapor - Deputy Minister of Power
Ghanaians will have to brace themselves up for possibly another ‘dumsor’ experience in the coming month, as the Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessel (FPSO) Kwame Nkrumah will be shut down from the 15th to 30th March.

The Deputy Minister of Power, John Jinapor, who made the disclosure on Peace FM on Friday, said the move is to allow for the facility to undergo scheduled regular maintenance.

He said this meant gas will not be flowing through the pipes during that time.

“We are working to ensure that, during that period, the situation would be handled. It is a critical moment for us and we’re trying to work things around,” John Jinapor said.

He, however, failed to state clearly if shutting down the FPSO will cause another power challenge; as Ghanaians recently came out of a power crisis that hit the country for nearly four years.

The facility which operates in the Jubilee oil fields off the coast of Ghana has the capacity to process 120,000 barrels of oil per day and has a storage capacity of 1.6 million barrels, with an associated gas production capacity of 160 million standard cubic feet a day.

President John Mahama while presenting his state of the nation address on Thursday, February 25, boasted that he had successfully ended the power crises which saw lots of businesses collapsing and several people losing their jobs.

Is Your Beard Packed With Germs?

Hygiene

Last year, Alun Withey, an academic historian of medicine and the body from the University of Exeter in the U.K., began a 3-year project to chart the health and hygiene history of facial hair between 1700 and 1918.

During this time, beards fell in and out of fashion. Between 1700 and 1830, the fashion was mainly for the clean-shaven look. Then the Victorian era ushered in the “beard movement” in which huge patriarchal beards -- think Darwin and Dickens -- dominated from around 1850 to the end of the 19th century.

Hippie beards were all the rage in the 1960s, culminating in one of the most famous sproutings of facial hair in recent times: the bearded model in Alex Comfort's 1972 "gourmet guide to lovemaking," The Joy of Sex. The book sold millions of copies, but by the time it was updated and republished in 2002, the bearded model had been replaced with a clean-shaven man.

Withey charts the current "hipster" beard fashion as dating from 2013. His research is still in its infancy, but a speech he gave on the subject for the Wellcome Trust last October was sold out.

He sees no end to the current trend for beards and believes the current arguments over hygiene just reflect this popularity. In a blog last May, when the TV news report comparing bacteria in beards to toilets was being picked up by news media around the world, he wrote: "In the 1660s the English churchman and historian Thomas Fuller was referring in print to the beard as 'that ornamental excrement under the chin.' Sound familiar?"

WHAT DO I SAY: I CHEATED ON HIM AND I GOT DITCHED WITH A DOUBLE CASE

I CHEATED ON HIM AND I GOT DITCHED WITH A DOUBLE CASE.
WHAT DO I DO, SAY AND SEE? MY LIFE IS NOT MY OWN

The story you are yet to read is a real life story
Is it stupid on my part to have dated two guys for my own financial benefits?
I thought cheating was unfair if played against me but little did I know that I would be doing same to hurt others.
I was playing smart with Duncan by having Twum as my spare tire, with whom I would demand all I want should Duncan disappoint me. As for Duncan he was great and cool and always made me feel like I was the perfect choice every man man could desire until I realized he was slacking in meeting my extravagant demands.
Hmm…  I just couldn’t understand him anymore. He was growing dumb as the weeks progressed. I just couldn’t water myself anymore with his name anytime I wanted to brag among my girlfriends. Along the way he started wailing about his financial crisis, and that was when I saw the green light. I used the back door for a short quickie; I started engaging Twum with the few seduction tips I knew until he took the bait. You can say it was an infatuation but he was serious with me wai. … haaahaaahaa.
After a few weeks we were laid and poor Duncan still believed, I was an angel because I played my cards well.
You know gals talk as usual I was with my girlfriends in the salon for a fierce hairstyle for church when I disclosed to them that I was dating my spare tire. Yh the gairls got curious and I told them that Twum had only done me once, and we all laughed about it. Silly me i forgot walls had ears.

Adjoba who had known Duncan far enough broke my secret to him during working hours at the office they work. Ahh I mean what is really wrong with this 'Okoro'  ahha.
As for me I didn’t know about what had happened when I picked up Duncan’s call in my office:
Duncan: hello babe
May: hi dear
Duncan: I hope you’re doing well babe
May: yh , abi you know that am still fresh as always
Duncan: can we go far a walk tonight?
May: ohh dear hmmm can we do it tomorrow?
We reached a decision and talk for a long time on the telephone. At midnight he called me back and asked me if I knew a guy called Twum and I said yes. You don’t wanna know the questions that followed next hmm. I admitted to Duncan that I had sex with Twum just once and we he used a condom. He asked when the event took place and I told him 3 weeks ago and screamed babe you cheated!
I wasn’t in tears because I loved him but I was stupid for cheating on him when he had shared all he had with me without flinching. What is love when you love me for money? He kept asking until the line went dead.
I was so arrogant to him on the phone.
I just got to move on with my life aaaahh. I mean if you couldn’t provide and someone did what is the bid deal in it. Mtchewww.
I just dosed off till it was morning.
The weeks that followed made me sick only to find out at the hospital that I was pregnant. Eiii who is responsible hmmm, I arrived home and called Duncan and he told me to cut him out of my sneaky games, ahh Duncan you’re responsible for the pregnancy oooo. I told you that Twum and I had a one night incidence and besides he used a condom so he couldn’t possibly be the father. He said calmly the sooner you awake from your dreams the better it would be for you.
Hmm and Dr. says am carrying twins, and neither Duncan nor Twum wants them eiii today dei I’ve finally gotten into the ditch.
Hmm in my couch I sat as I sobbed bitterly as I replayed all the scenes in my mind.
I kept asking myself  me y3 okay anaaa ! What was I playing with? Hmm is it fire oh then I got burnt paaaaa!

OOO my people what now? hmmm......

Kwabena Kwabena reveals the biggest challenge in the music industry

Kwabena Kwabena Towel
There are so many problems bedeviling the music industry in Ghana. These challenges have worked against the progress of artistes as no clear panacea has been found yet to remedy the situation.

While some musicians are complaining about piracy and other practises as factors deepening their woes, highlife artiste, Kwabena Kwabena has observed that the biggest challenge in the music industry is marketing.

According to the Adult Music hit-maker, musicians are doing their best recording tunes but where to market them is mostly an issue to deal with. He believes there will be a positive change should people who are well vested in marketing handle the business aspect of the arts.

Kwabena Kwabena also suggested that specific places be set aside for the sales of albums.

“Marketing is the biggest challenge because you agree with me that I did not read marketing; all I know is to sing and I need that person with that skills. I have a wonderful and hardworking team who are doing well with keeping the image up but in terms of selling the products, it is the challenge,” he said on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review on Thursday when he was asked what he considers the biggest challenge in music.

“There should be national outlets for selling CDs. There should be a hub so that even a foreigner can be assured of getting any Ghanaian music to buy,” Kwabena Kwabena added.

Election 2016: Allay fears of Ghanaians - Vee

Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has charged the military to collaborate with the other security agencies to assuage the anxiety of the public over the November General Election.

He stated that in an election year many minor issues were usually magnified out of proportion by politicians and the media to create the apprehension among the people.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur made the call when he attended the 2015 West African Soldiers Social Activity (WASSA) durbar at Burma Camp.

WASSA is an annual ceremony observed by all units of the Ghana Armed Forces to promote socialisation among military personnel, and to serve as an opportunity to take stock of the working year, to strategise for the coming year.

Beside from being an event to have fun, it is also an avenue for renewing camaraderie among officers, other ranks and the civilian employees of the military.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur said so early in the year, the country had witnessed a high profile attack on a Member of Parliament, as well as the horrific accident that occurred on the Kintampo Road, this week.

He said in such situations, the military were always there to support the civilian authorities to provide safety and relief to the people.

He cited the June 3, 2015 flood-fire incident at Nkrumah Circle, in which the military were at hand to protect the citizens from the ravages of the water and fire.

That tragedy claimed more than 150 lives and destroyed property valued at millions of Ghana cedis.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur commended the Ghana Armed Forces, especially the Airforce, for helping to airlift injured persons from Kintampo to Sunyani and other specialist hospitals for treatment.

He urged the Military High Command to integrate their forces with that of the Police to enhance the security situation in the country.

He urged the military to continue to support the public.

He said this year being an election, one the country needed all the support it could mobilise to help Ghana retain its stability and peaceful nature.

Air Vice Marshal Michael Samson-Oje, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), assured of the military’s resolve to work professionally to enhance the peace and security in the country.

He said the military would continue to provide support for the public in national emergencies and crisis.

Awards were presented to two civilian employees and two military officials who excelled at their various fields of endeovour.

 Afia Schwarzenegger has HIV

the MP for Assin North Hon Kennedy Agyapong yesterday morning discharged bare photographs of the questionable TV and Radio big name Presenter Afia Schwarzenegger.

The Member of Parliament for Assin Central fumed at the radio personality for questioning the kind of work he does apart from politics, claiming that Ghanaians would want to know. He described Afia as a prostitute adding that she is still single because she bed wets and further threatened to deal with her.

It appears the feud between TV and Radio Host Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa, popularly known as Afia Schwarzenegger and Assin North Member of Parliament, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is not going to die down anytime soon.

The duo have pledged to descend into the gutters and already assassinating each other’s character and personality after a rival banter between them.

Afia Schwarzenegger during her Thursday mid-morning show ‘Y3 Wo Krom’ on Okay FM criticized Kennedy Agyapong for ‘insulting’ the siblings of President John Mahama.

“To her, the Assin North MP could have saved himself from her early morning insults from her if he had criticized the works of the president, leaving out his family.”

E/R: ‘We will turn Mahama’s SHS into a public toilet’

John Mahama SHS Project
Some aggrieved land owners in the Eastern Region where a community day SHS was recently commissioned have threatened to turn the school into a public toilet.
The angry land owners at Nyanoa in the Upper West Akyem District of the Eastern Region whose lands were taken for the construction of the Community Day SHS made the threat after claiming government has failed to pay them their crop and land compensation.

One of the aggrieved landowners, an elderly woman, told Adom News Correspondent, Maxwell Kudekor, they cannot allow the school to run smoothly while government owes them compensation.

The elderly woman claims government took the lands from twenty-three other colleagues for the construction of the Community Day SHS at Kwaboa Nyanoa in the Eastern Region and promised to pay compensation but is yet to honour that promise.

President John Mahama on Thursday (yesterday) commissioned the school where the angry landowners had threatened to demonstrate.

However, the outgoing Eastern Regional Minister, Antwi Boasiako-Sekyere, pleaded with them to rescind the planned demonstration.

The angry landowners have given government a two-week ultimatum to pay them their compensation.

They told Adom News
