BERIMAH DEFEATS POWERS

Bukom Banku Bail Victory
Braimah Kamoko, aka Bukom Banku, has knocked out Ayittey Powers in a special bout in Kumasi on Boxing Day, December 26.

Ayittey Powers took a beating in the opening five rounds and could not regain his composure to return to the ring for round six.

Even though Powers endured the fight in this bout better than he did in a similar bout in Accra against Banku last year, he still could not withstand Banku's heavy punches.

Banku calmly controlled the exchanges and pounded on his opponent round after round.

At the end of round five, Powers did not make it back for the commencement of the next round, enabling Kamoko to pick up the technical knockout decision.

Banku remains unbeaten, improving his record to 27 wins. He said his next bout would be a world title fight against Brit Nathan Cleverly.

Blame sports reporters for “unattractive” Ghana league - MP

Dec 12, 2015 at 8:18am

"

The MP for South Tongu Kwabena Mensah Woyome has accused sports journalists of destroying and making the local league unpopular.

The legislator’s comment comes on the back of the Ghana FA spokesperson Ibrahim Sannie Daara’s claims that some Twi-speaking stations are the ones making the domestic top-flight unattractive.

At the moment, the local league has no sponsor following a request by First Capital Plus - now Capital Bank - to suspend its partnership with the FA for a period.

“You sports journalists are making the league unattractive to all of us. You are not giving prominence to the competition but rather giving foreign leagues and teams publicity,” Woyome, who is the chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports,
“For example in the past, Hearts and Kotoko [game] was big in such a way that my father and his friends gather to discuss it always.

“But now, my little boy can’t even mention names of local players but he can mention the starting line -up of Chelsea which is bad, you people must wake up,” the legislator added.
